My Story

My name is Jhanielle, but most people call me Jhay. I am currently in the latter years of my twenties. I went from being focused on the sciences all my life to being a flight attendant, a decision that has afforded me the privilege of exploring the world and the amazing cultures I have read and dreamed about. I’ve wanted to start a blog for ages. However, doubt and time set in, which basically crippled me. Wondering if people would be interested in hearing what I have to say.. Will they be able to relate? Will our millennial microwave life have the patience to read? Nonetheless, I decided to move in fear and start it anyway.

On social media we often show the best parts of ourselves and our stories. Very seldom are people cognizant of the struggles we’ve gone through or are currently facing. I’ve learned that this is the part of our stories that connects us. It’s with our stories that we are able to give hope to those who may be dealing with issues, let them know it’s possible to attain success even with setbacks, that things do get better, that time heals, and love makes the difference. As I document intimate pieces of me on paper, almost like an open journal, I’ve realized that vulnerability takes courage. I know that with the things that I have experienced in life, it would be a tragedy to keep it all in and not share it with someone else. A dear friend of mine, Dani, shared a quote with me: “there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.”

I believe that when you own your truth, no one can use it against you. So come with me as I take on this journey, as I too and am still penciling it in. Leaving room for error, continued growth, and a heart filled with love. This is for you, this is for us. #JourneyingWithJhay
